Malaysians do not have lacklustre sex lives
IT’S not true that Malaysians have lacklustre sex lives.
This was the opinion of the majority of people interviewed by The Malay Mail y e s t e rda y.
Most of them doubted the accuracy of the recent Durex Sexual Well-being Global survey.
The survey, conducted by Harris Interactive, stated that 62 per cent of 1,026 Malaysians were not satisfied with their sexual relationship but most people The Malay Mail met yesterday thought o t he r w i s e.
It was reported that fewer than two out of every five Malaysians were contented with their sexual relationships, leaving 38 per cent of the overall figure happy with their partners.
But this figure was disputed by many who said the figures may not be accurate and that they have happy sexual relationships with their partners despite leading successful careers.
This was what our readers said y e s t e rda y : l Majid Abdul Manaf, 27, advertising executive, Klang “The survey cannot be trusted as I’m sure Malaysians are satisfied with their partners. They may be affected by their commitments which at times keep couples apart for a while. But I do n ’t hear them complaining about their sex lives.” l Nor Esah Abd Ghani, 41, purchasing manager, Bangsar “It cannot be. The figures are shady and can’t be real. The accuracy of the survey is suspect because respondents from different areas have different sexual desires. I believe the survey focused on a narrow segment of society.
As far as I’m concerned, Malaysians are sexually satisfied. The latest divorce figures can prove t h i s. ” l Alvin Cheng, 36, marketing manager, Puchong “The figures shock me. I thought most Malaysians were satisfied with their sex lives. I’m happy with mine.” l Zulkifli Mohd Basar, 35, technician, Rawang “The figures can’t be right. I do n ’t know about the rest but I’m happily married with two children as proof. I feel Malaysians have struck a balance, including sexual h a b it s. ” l Vijay Anand, 29, art director, Kuala Lumpur “I was expecting the survey to have 80 per cent of Malaysians satisfied but when I saw the paper today, I was shocked. The accuracy of the survey is questionable. I think Malaysians are better than that.” l Andrea Liew, 34, financial controller, Petaling Jaya “It ’s a reasonable figure although it’s slightly higher than average. But taking into consid- eration our population growth, the outcome of the survey could be true. Many people are more busy building careers than thinking about sex.” l Janet Silvaraju, 32, business development executive, Kuala Lumpur “It ’s hard to define but 62 per cent of Malaysians not satisfied with their sex lives is high for a loving nation like ours. It’s obvious that most Malaysians are expressive when it comes to sex.
However, sexual satisfaction is up to an individual.” l Faizatul Akmar, 29, marketing manager, Kuala Lumpur “That figure is too high and I doubt that the majority of the respondents would have answered honestly. I’m satisfied with my married life. I don’t contribute to that figure.” l S. Kumarenthiran, 32, broadcasting executive, Petaling J a ya “It ’s absurd. I doubt the accuracy of the survey. One can be too quick to judge sexual satisfaction and I don’t agree with the outcome of the survey. Most of my friends are happy with their sex lives. Some even have a schedule for it.” l Wong, 37, gym instructor, Kuala Lumpur “It ’s possible Malaysians find ‘re a l ’ satisfaction but sometimes when children come along, the level of satisfaction goes down.
Maybe that’s the case with the Durex survey.” l Zaliza Mohd Rathi, 35, supervisor, Kuala Lumpur “It might be accurate. I find it hard to make time for sex because I am busy most of the time. Most women have good careers and as a result, they compromise on the time for sex.” l John Lee, 29, artist manager, Kuala Lumpur “That can’t be. Most Malaysians seem to lead a healthy and happy life, be it, sexual or marital. Most are able to discuss and relate their needs in a relationship. So I do n ’t understand why the percentage of dissatisfied partners is so h ig h . ” The 2007 Durex survey, which was released this week, again hit Malaysians below the belt.
The survey listed Malaysians as among those who have the least satisfactory sexual relationships, compared with several other countries, with an global average dissatisfaction rate of 56 per c e nt
More AdSense news today - Google are now letting publishers promote their Google Checkout system as a referral product.
Their support page that explains how much publishers can earn from their different products lists ‘Checkout’ as a referral product saying that publishers will earn $1 if the person they refer becomes a buyer and purchases at least $10 (before tax and shipping) within 90 days of sign-up.
Not one of their most lucrative referral products - but I guess on some sites that are shopping based it could convert quite nicely.
AdSense Give Ad Units a Spring Clean
AdSense have today announced that they’ve given their AdSense units a ’spring clean’. They write that this is a result of testing and research and that the new look ads should lead to better performance for both publishers and advertisers.
The new look ads will be rolled out in the coming days and will incorporate the same colors and fonts that existing ads have.
AdSense also notes that you cannot opt out of the new designs but also hint at more format options ‘in the future’.
Here’s how the new ads look (click to enlarge)…. it’s not a massive change as you can see.
Blog For Money

For me a lot of the advice that I’ve given in this series of blogging for beginnersstrategic blogging here so won’t unpack this now). Here’s some of the responses I had when I asked why people blog: comes down to working out some goals, strategy and vision for your blog.
Now there is nothing wrong with blogging for more than one reason - but bloggers considering adding income streams to their blogs need to consider the possibility that there are implications of going in that direction that MIGHT impact their other goals.

GOOGLE ADSENSE: Affiliates Program
Starting Info About Google Adsense Program
The Google AdSense affiliate is a popular one among bloggers and website owners. If you don't have a Google AdSense account, I encourage you to sign up now - https://www.google.com/adsense/. This is one good way to earn some money from your blog. You can use the same account in all other blogs and websites that you have.
Some Tips About Google AdSense:
1) Create targeted content (blog entries).
And, offer a LOT of relevant content that people would like to look for and to read about. Also, if you have a great blog with lots of good content, people would keep coming back to your blog. And, this way, when people search for a topic that you wrote about, you can serve Google AdSense to them. Hopefully, to encourage clickthroughs and leads as well.
2) If you have more than one blog or website,
Use Google AdSense in all of them. The more your AdSense is served to the public, the better. However, the basic rules of netiquette and good blog/site design should still apply.
3) Put Google AdSense ads in strategic places in your blog.
But, try not to overwhelm your blog readers and visitors with them.
4) Never try to create "fake" pages that serve Google AdSense. These are pages that have no real content, but just filled with keywords or duplicate content from other places, etc. This will be considered spamming. And, if you're caught, you might lose your AdSense account.
5) Update your page regularly.
Search engines love regularly updated blogs and sites. And, if search engines love your blog, then people can find your site that serve Google AdSense much easier.
6) Don't click on your own ads!
This sort of activity may be caught by Google and cause your affiliate account to be shut down.

5 Tips To Make The Most Out of Affiliates
I really wouldn't call Affiliate Marketing as the 'Easiest Business'. But then, it's true that it's easier than it used to be. You see, once upon a time, there would be lengthy meetings and various logistics issues to sort out before anyone gets the chance to associate one's name or business with another.
Now, it's mostly a matter of click, sign-up, link up, and promote.
However, money doesn't just roll in as soon as you start affiliate marketing. Here are five tips to make the most out of online affiliate programmes:
1) Provide good reasons for readers and visitors to keep coming back to your site where you have your affiliate links.
Or, if you primarily promote via email, make sure that you give readers and subscribers a lot of reasons to keep opening and reading your emails. It's just so much easier to delete things nowadays! Just deliver great content, provide user interaction, come up with clever contests... the possibilities are endless.
2) Maximise your visibility.
Working on your site's promotions and SEO is important. If you can't do it yourself, or if you have limited knowledge of search engine optimisation (SEO), then make sure that you get advice from people who know more than you do on this matter. Always remember that the more people who find your site, the more chances you have in showing your affiliate products.
3) Choose your affiliates carefully!
Big names (e.g., eBay, Target, Wal-Mart, etc.) may seem impressive. But, will your site/email newsletter/weblog really benefit from them? It's always best to have targeted affiliates. For example, if you run a site/newsletter/weblog on "Spas" --- then try to promote spas and spa-related affiliates only.
4) Provide product reviews from affiliates.
These days, simply putting up a link to a product or service isn't good enough. A lot of people are already doing that! To make sure that you get better conversions from your affiliate programmes, write reviews of specific products. Of course, make sure that it's a genuine review and not just a fake write-up for a quick buck. I find that review writing really works well. Sometimes, I even find sales coming through from reviews that I've written a long time ago.
5) Watch out for special offers and coupons.
Often, affiliate merchants provide special coupon codes and such that you can use to offer to your readers/visitors. Make the most out of them! This usually happens around holiday seasons, so watch out for them and make sure you're ready to share them with your readers, visitors and subscribers when they happen.
